Practicum II: Greek Life

Brooke completed this course in Spring 2016 and earned an A for her final grade.

Class Outcomes

  • Demonstrate skills necessary to accomplish goals in student services.

  • Demonstrate an ability to:

    • Better integrate theory with elements of good practice in student affairs.

    • Identify, understand, and put into practice core functions in a student services office/function.

    • Discuss how student services office can be administered in an effective and efficient manner.

    • Articulate a particular institutional mission and discuss how student affairs relates to that mission.

    • Develop and complete projects that meet needs.

    • Evaluate the work experience in relation to personal and professional goals.

Contract

  • Purpose: Students will complete a contract with the assistance of their site host, which provide provides an opportunity for the student, site host, and instructor to agree on the goal(s) of the experience and how the goal(s) will be achieved.

  • Guidelines: The student, the site host, and the instructor all must sign the contract prior to the beginning of the practicum experience.

Journals

  • Purpose: Students will record their experiences, insights, and feelings regarding their experiences through journal entries and provide a reflective opportunity for the student.

  • Guidelines: Students are required to make journal entries at the end of every 15 hours of experience, for a minimum of 6 entries.

Final Project

  • Purpose: Students will prepare a final report that will include the original goals, method of evaluation, duties, how the CSP coursework was applied in the practicum experience, and an overall assessment of the success of the practicum including what the student learned from the experience.  

  • Guidelines: Any final products required by the site host should be attached as an appendix.
