Student Projects: Final Assessment of Learning

For my graduate assistantship, I am teaching a freshmen experience course called CSP 1013: Principles of Collegiate Success.
I had nearly 100 students for the fall semester and needed to figure out a final project that was worth their time as well as easy for me to grade quickly. I had my own finals at the same time. So, I came up with this project that allowed students to review their coursework and could be graded with a rubric.
Throughout the semester, students were learning about their learning styles, how to study, take notes, and prepare for tests. They also learned about their personality types, explored careers, and learned about developing relationships with people different from themselves. I also incorporated a week of diversity and inclusion focused on social identities.
Since several of these closely affect retention, completion, and academic success, I felt it was important to ensure that students walked away with an understanding of themselves and their goals. To reinforce their learning, I decided to have them go through their notes and personal inventories for the semester. They used these to fill out the presentation template below and had an example of a good presentation and the rubric I used to grade.
I have also provided four examples of student work that was submitted. I tried to use students with different learning styles, personality types, career goals, and social identities.
