Explanation of "The Happiness Project"

A leader in living a more positive life is Gretchen Rubin. I first found out about her through her podcast, Happier. I just finished her book, "The Happiness Project," in which she describes her one year journey of incorporating habits and goals that will increase positivity. It's an easy read, filled with stories about her experiences and her revelations. And, it has inspired me to create my own little happiness project!

April Happiness Goal

April signifies the last month of my graduate program! That's right, I am graduating in May, which means job searching, relocation, a comprehensive exam covering all core CSP subjects, and final projects and papers. I want to make sure that I do not lose track of being positive, healthy, and organized as well as staying connected to and supported by my fiancé, friends, and family. I also have some outside hobbies and interests that I want to focus on this month: learning Spanish on Duolingo (also mentioned in this blog post) and blogging! Having a growth mindset is also important to me, so I added a few questions about learning more about student affairs outside of class and reflecting about what I could do to make tomorrow great.

My April Happiness Journal

Instead of using a chart like Gretchen, which would require me to either print it off or constantly update an electronic document, I decided that I would complete a short, daily assessment. I created this form on Google Drive. It will provide me with a quick snapshot so that I can review areas of weakness and strength. Monitor and adjust!

How do you keep track of your goals and growth process? What do you think of my April Happiness Journal?
